President William Ruto visited Lagos on 25 September 2026 and toured the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki at the invitation of Aliko Dangote, days after their meeting on the sidelines of UNGA 81 in New York. Ruto pledged the Kenyan government's support for the planned Dangote East Africa Refinery in Lamu, said land had been secured, and said the Lamu plant was expected to create 60,000 jobs.
