CIO Africa reports that the Nairobi International Financial Centre has signed a cooperation agreement with Swiss technology company New Wind Ventures to develop and test a framework linking Swiss banking-sector participants with Kenya’s capital markets. The signing took place in New York on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and was witnessed by the Deputy Consul General of Switzerland.
Selected meetings and bilaterals during UNGA81 in New York included discussions with Circle, NIFC Africa, the Nairobi Securities Exchange and other partners on digital finance and capital markets. The discussions examined stablecoins, virtual assets and capital markets, including regulatory conditions under Kenya’s emerging Virtual Asset Service Providers framework and the need for any further work to establish purpose and user protections.
