Pulse Kenya reports that President William Ruto and a Kenyan delegation held talks in New York with Aliko Dangote and Africa Finance Corporation President and CEO Samaila Zubairu on financing and preparations for the proposed East Africa Refinery in Lamu. 2 trillion, or $17 billion.

It says President William Ruto witnessed the signing at State House Nairobi, and that the agreement is under the Government of Italy’s Mattei Plan for Africa partnership framework.
The source says the governments of Kenya and Norway convened the first high-level event on clean cooking held at the United Nations General Assembly, with the IEA, Clean Cooking Alliance and other partners. It says the event aimed to sustain political momentum ahead of the second Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa, to be hosted in Nairobi on 27–28 January 2027, and that co-chairs had secured an additional $900 million in new financial commitments for clean cooking solutions across Africa.
