A planned $16 billion, 700,000 barrel-a-day refinery and petrochemical complex in Lamu, led by Aliko Dangote's Dangote Group with the Africa Finance Corporation. At UNGA 81 in New York President Ruto said Kenya would break ground within a week, and he met Dangote and AFC there on financing (21 Sept).
Honeywell announced on 30 September 2026, the day of the Lamu groundbreaking, that Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE had selected it to provide process technologies, licensing, engineering services, proprietary catalysts, equipment and digital solutions for the planned 700,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Kenya. Honeywell put its project scope at approximately $300 million (about KSh39 billion).
